【 ❀ 】━  Violet-colored eyes turned away from a bush of red carnation flowers. They spotted a girl dressed in high-class clothing who harbored a look of annoyance and perhaps a spot of confusion. The girl recognized who was standing before her, having seen her so many times in various news articles and tabloids. Only an idiot wouldn’t recognize a Schnee.

The girl with snow-colored hair was the one and only Weiss Schnee, and while she had perfect reasoning to be unnerved by a stranger on her property, Carrie certainly didn’t enjoy being treated like some sort of criminal. She was anything but.

“Excuse me, your highness.” The stranger’s voice shows clear signs of annoyance accompanied by a minimum amount of restraint. “My mother is here organizing trade deals with President Schnee of the SDC and had me come along. I’m no trespasser, thank you very much.”

oh. i’m … i’m sorry. i shouldn’t have assumed.”   well, that was thoroughly embarrassing. and humbling, to say the least. cheeks flushing pink at her mistake, weiss gives a nod to the girl’s explanation. she’s no stranger to restrained annoyance —- she’s all too familiar with the sound of it in her own voice. but instead of becoming peeved at the other girl’s tone - something she would have done, just a year ago - weiss keeps a steady posture. but just because she can accept her mistake doesn’t mean she’s about to cower, either.   “ —– but just weiss is fine.” she says, firmly. she’d always hated being called that. highness. especially with that kind of inflection.

the distaste, the sometimes envy, other times dislike - sometimes both - for what she was, what she had. not that it really applied to her anymore, anyway, now that whitley got his way. it meant she could leave right now if she wanted to, since it wasn’t her responsibility to greet guests in the name of the schnee family. it wasn’t her responsibility, and even when it had been, she hadn’t ever liked it. but her social faux pas keeps her where she is.

“but in that case, do you need help finding your way around? i can show you to the dining kitchen. it’s probably going to be a couple of hours at the very least before trade talks cease.”
